Is it fragile?

As our skins are not tanned, reindeer hair is fragile, and it's important to take good care of the skin so that it doesn't become damaged. The skin must be well stored and dried if it has taken on water. You'll find all this information in the "About this reindeer skin" section.

How can I tell if my reindeer skin is damaged?

Poor storage or drying methods can lead to rapid deterioration. The first sign is usually an unpleasant smell. Normally, a reindeer skin has a slight natural reindeer smell, but if damaged, it can give off a strong musty odor and attract flies and insects.

How do I clean a reindeer skin?

Shake the reindeer skin on the outside to remove embedded dirt particles. If stains are found, clean them immediately with a soft, slightly damp cloth, avoiding harsh chemicals. Gently brush the bristles back into place to preserve their softness.

Where does this reindeer skin come from?

All our reindeer skins come from farms in the heart of Finnish Lapland. On these farms, the reindeer live in semi-liberty, feeding on the natural resources provided by their environment. The breeders are particularly active in winter, a difficult period when snow can make lichen, their main source of food, inaccessible.
