Kipinä means “spark” in Finnish. It is a fire steel with a reindeer antler handle from Finnish Lapland, a laser-engraved reindeer and a leather strap to hang it on your backpack or belt.

In Finland, nobody uses a striker: you scrape the rod with the back of your puukko, the Finnish knife. The sparks light the birch bark, then the kindling, and the water for coffee heats up for the kuksa.

Reindeer shed their antlers naturally every year. Herders collect them and turn them into everyday objects, as people in Lapland have always done. No animal is harmed.

Kipinä is 11 cm long and 2 cm wide. Every handle is unique: the shape and shades of the antler vary from one piece to another.
