The Kaamos Kuksa is hand-carved in Finnish Lapland from Karelian curly birch. This precious wood is chosen for its natural clarity and unique marbled patterns.
Unlike darker models, it is not soaked in coffee, which preserves its bright tint. The wood is strengthened by a natural and traditional saltwater treatment, revealing the full beauty of the grain.
With a capacity of approximately 10 cl (varying according to the wood), it is decorated with an inlaid piece of reindeer antler on top of the handle. A reindeer leather strap allows for easy attachment. A small piece of pure and authentic craftsmanship.

During transport, the kuksa has undergone various temperature variations. Before pouring a hot liquid into it, be sure to let the wood return to room temperature. As a precaution, you can run your kuksa under lukewarm (not hot) water before using it.

Yes! If you'd like a kuksa that hasn't been soaked in coffee during the manufacturing process, just ask us — we have some coffee-free models, like the Kuukkeli, for example.

We recommend that you wash your kuksa before using it. To wash it, use lukewarm, not hot, water and a natural, chemical-free soap. Once the cup has been washed, dry it immediately with a cloth. You mustn't leave it to dry on its own, as the wood will soak up all the water.

To keep this kuksa in good condition, with its beautiful color and shine, you should care for it with oil (we recommend grapeseed oil) or with a protective wax. You can buy grapeseed oil in our shop, and also a protective wax that we make ourselves.

This kuksa can be used to enjoy hot or cold drinks. The wood will naturally keep your drink cool or warm.

No! None of our wooden products are microwave-safe. Microwave heat will damage the wood and cause it to crack.

This kuksa is handmade in the far north, in Finnish Lapland.

Kuksa were invented by the Sami, an indigenous people living in northern Scandinavia. They were used as personal containers for drinking, eating and even berry-picking. Kuksa are part of Duodji, a Sami craft centered on the creation of functional and useful everyday objects.

It takes about 8 days for a kuksa to be finished. After the kuksa has been carved, the wood needs to soak for about 5 hours without boiling salted water. If you want a darker-coloured kuksa, soak it in coffee for a few minutes. After that, the wood needs to dry for a week. And finally be oiled.
